We have heard it many a times that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, but do we really pay heed to this old saying? Our personality is not made up only of our societal aspect but of physical and psychological aspects too. Our personality is the result of our development at different stages of our life. Whatever we experience physically, psychologically and socially from our childhood to adulthood finally helps us in making our career hence lives successful. To bring that completeness to the personality and to utilize our skills, which would ultimately make us achieve success, all the three earlier mentioned dimensions should run parallel to one another. Our mind and body is connected to each other, if one of the either gets upset, the other also has to face the consequences. Our body is governed by the commands given by our brain. On the other hand, our brain receives signal through innumerable nerves present in our body. So in order to work properly, one needs to have a sound mind and a fit body.
Various studies and researches have shown that playing sports can make our body fit, increasing the blood circulation, promoting heart health, consequently reducing stress and depression in a person. Sports are vital for the development of a person at different stages of his/her life. In childhood age, a child’s major part of learning is achieved by playing sports. Be it team spirit, leading qualities, social conformation, making social relationships or development of self-esteem, each of these can be learnt by a child through sports. Sports are vital for a child’s overall development including physical and mental fitness. An individual’s future health also depends upon his interest in sports.
In adulthood, during schools or universities, sports are necessary for complimenting the sedentary behavior among students. This helps students grow their mental as well as physical abilities, releasing stress and frustration in the crucial age. To achieve success in one’s life, one must be acquainted with his/her own abilities to utilize them in the right direction. It is through sports only that an individual gets to explore limits of his/her mind and body developing their ultimate inside out personality. That is why there are various sports programs organized by schools and universities for the overall growth of students which would ultimately shape their lives currently and in future also
